What a season!
by Buzzard on 11/24/11
Wow it has been months since I posted a blog. Sorry for not getting back here sooner.
Let me say that despite a crappy start to the season weather wise, we had a good season all in all. A little less pulling than in recent years but, hey we can't make them all.
Victor continues his dominance in the youth stock class. He took home 1st place in both the 850 and 950 weight classes for GPU. Way to go kid. There is some good competion coming along though. Young David Ittel is a strong runner and looks like he will be a strong advisary next season.
I myself didn't win any championships this year. Why, well not having my tractor for 1/2 the season is pretty much the reason why. Once it was together, I was in the top 3 all the time with quite alot of wins. That governed twin class is something else and looks like it will keep growing next year.
We did lose a dear friend at the end of the season. Ken Stoops passed away from a bout with cancer. Thankfully for he and his family, he didn't suffer and passed quickly. It was bittersweet as Ken won championships with 2 different clubs this year. He was a great friend and competitor. Many of us in this area have parts or tractors bought from Ken. God speed Ken.
Up next is the the Super Pull in Columbus. They are adding some classes to bring in some new blood into the sport. Quite honestly, I can't wait. It will be nice to pull there instead of just watching and spending money on parts lol.
Everyone have a great Thanksgiving!
July 30th
by Buzzard on 07/31/11
Well July 30th was a long day of pulling for a lot of people. We started out bright and early that morning and got home late that night. In the morning, we headed down to Summit County Fair to pull with Hilliard Tractor club. They ran there set of classes on one track, and we ran SAPA rules on the other.
As for HDM, we had a really good day. Vic took home a 1st and 2nd. in the kids class. I took a 1st and 3rd in the 4000 rpm twin class, and Chris took a 2nd and a 4th in the open singles. We had some friends take home podium finishes as well. Matt Emrick, TJ Price, Nikki Shafer, Daniel Duplain and Bailey Cathan both took home some money that day.
Onto SAPA later that night. We pulled with the normal crowd. VIc took 3rd in the 30ci class. I got 4th in the twin class...but from 1st to 4th was a total of 2 feet. As soon as I figure out the weight balance of my tractor things will be realy good.
Up next is GPU at our track on the 7th of August. Pull starts at noon. We look forward to seeing all of you there.
Updates...
by Buzzard on 07/19/11
Ok so just a few updates. General Vic has officially been driven by Victor now and I don't see him letting up anytime soon. The kid handled it like a pro. We had a good turn out for our July 2nd pull. Thanks to all that came out and had a good time.
My twin is finally back together. A new pipe, also...man it sounds good. Unfortunately, the first weekend didn't go as planned. We had some issues with the clutch and that didn't help us achieve our goal. We had a good weekend in general pulling with SAPA on Saturday. Congratulations to all our friend on the new mugs they have recently aquired. Up next for HDM is Summit County Fair. we will be down there pulling, so we hope to see all of you there too!
GPU event 6-12-11
by Buzzard on 06/12/11Well Victor continued his run atop the standings in the 850 Y.S class, with another 1st place. In the 950 Y.S. class, he took a close 2nd. Young David Ittel took top honors, and a big congrats to him. Now his dad has to spend more money to get a set of cut tires for their rig. I would have taken 2nd in the 1000 H.S. twin class. BUT, I had a brain fart and was weigthed for the 1100 H.S class. Thus resulting in a DQ, and I don't mean Dairy Queen. I settled in for a 4th in the 1100 class instead. Shona Cathan continued dominating that class with yet another sweep of the day. She beat up on all the boys in that class. Hats off to her. Chris got a 2nd and a 3rd today in the Open Single class. Really the 3 tractors that pulled in that class are all very different, but that is the class they all run in. Keep up the good work all and see you next time.
2011 debut!
by Buzzard on 05/30/11Well Vic still has it. He dominated the youth stock classes this weekend. Full pulling 4 times en route to his 2 wins. There is more competion for him this year and hopefully he can keep winning. Also thanks to Mom for allowing him to pull. She is great. Chris took the weekend off and I pulled General Vic to a couple of 4th place finishes. With cut tires....maybe I would have gotten a top 3 in each class. Next weekend brings up our first pull with SAPA down in Louisville. Can't wait to pull with those guys. We look forward to seeing everyone at the pulls this year. Good luck and keep pulling!
